another fine day – a good place to be

Interchill has just released its newest prize, and it’s wonderful.

Dream-like piano is woven seamlessly into ambient songs and others with tight little rhythmic outlays. Tom’s jazz background is evident and he’s managed to bring a lot of that over into low-tempo “electronic” music. I’m not even sure I should call this electronic music. It’s sublime.
Our favorite song is Naiad followed by Dusty Feet, but the whole record is a 100% solid straight through listen. Every track is a winner, and it’s a fantastic straight-through listen.

Duckem – Matter EP

I can’t imagine where Cut Recordings finds this stuff. The depth of last month’s subscription release, Matter EP, is staggering. Orbit and Matter both have interesting drum work that plays complexly with the bass and dubbed keys. The final cut, Clusters, is slightly reminiscent of Yagya.

Cut Recordings works on a subscription model (which we happily pay every month), check it out, sign up, get fantastic music.

Free song from Another Fine Day (Interchill Records)

Interchill Records just phoned to let us know they’re putting out a full length LP from Another Fine Day at the end of the month!

To celebrate, you can download this free track:

This is wonderful news to our ears because the Another Fine Day entry on Interchill’s Waypoint compilation was our favorite on the album. Basically a jazz song hiding out on an electronica compilation:

Caldera – Trippin’ EP

Cut Recordings is doing what it knows best: finding obscure and wonderful music and delivering it to you, and us (then to you). Mostly work with deep dubtechno releases (though they’ve stated they will branch out stylistically this year), the Trippin’ EP features a slow-jam deep garage ditty (Stretch), and a low tempo thumper (Trippin’) along with its two steady dub techno entries (KLR, Morning Traveller). Check out their subscription service and get a new EP every month. We’re not mere shills, we happily pay for our subscription, thirstily awaiting the turn of the month for the new release!
